Urbaser, through its division Urbaser Environnement in France, has been grantted the operations and maintenance of the energetic valuation´s plant in Isseane (France)
- The contract has been signed with Syctom for a total amount of 215 million euros. Syctom is a metropolitan agency of urban residues and the main European public operator for the treatment and recovery of domestic waste.
- The plant has an administrative capacity of 510,000 t/year and will provide its services to 1.45M of local residents from Issy-les-Moulineaux.
Urbaser, through its division Urbaser Environnement in France, has been grantted the operations and maintenance of the energetic valuation´s plant in Isseane (France). The contract will have a duration of 8 years and 3 months. It will start being operative from September of 2019 onwards and will guarantee the valuation of 61 tons per hour of residues.
Isseane, located in Issy-les-Moulineaux, is one of the most important French plants of the country. The plant has an administrative capacity of 510,000 tons per year. It provides service to 22 municipalities (1.45 million inhabitant) belonging to Syctom. The heat generated with the valuation of the waste will produce an anual heat equivalent to the consumption of 80,000 homes and the electricity needed for the self-sufficiency of the plant (hence avoinding the consumption of fosile combustible).
This plant, which is a worldwide benchmark in the waste treatement sector, was build in 2008 following a high environmental quality criteria and it is a model of urban integration. The plant posseses a gas treatment system which generates a much lower amount of emission than the one required by the EU. Consequently, making this plant an environmentally friendly example in France.
This energetic valuation plant has been, until now, operated by Dalkia Wasternergy previouslly, know by the name of Tiru, the waste branch of the former, which at the same time is a subsidiary of EDF.
Another centre of selective collection of waste classification centre is also located in Isseane. However, it was not included on this bidding. Therefore, its operator will be assigned through a different pathway.
Higher energetic performance
Urbaser´s offer, chosen by Syctom, would guarantee an exponencial increase in their energetic performance, consequently allowing a rise on vapour´s supply to CPCU (French acronym for Compagnie Parisienne de Chauffage Urbain). Addicionally, it will also provide concreate answers about the continuity of the public service and the sosteinability of the facility, including the implementation of a new generation´s combustión control software and a Great Maintenance Renovation program (GMR).
Betting for sustainable develoment
Urbaser Environnement has focussed on the notion of sustainable development, which will be included on the certification process developed for Isseane. Throughout their commitment with the certification ISO 9001, ISO 14001. OHSAS18001 E ISO 50001, Urbaser has chosen to optimize the plant´s performance by means of limitating the electric and termic consumption.
This facility is one of the biggest units of the energetic valuation in France in terms of processing capacity, closely followed by UVE, from Aix-Marseille Provence, built and operated by Urbaser as well.
