At the close of 2018, Urbaser acquired an 80% stake in the Norwegian company NordRen AS. This business brings URBASER a client portfolio with 18 new contracts to provide services in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark (51, 7, and 2 municipalities, respectively).
In January of 2019, Urbaser formalised the purchase of RenoNorden AS. This Denmark-based company will bring URBASER 30 new contracts.
With the purchase of these two companies, URBASER was able to take root in the Norwegian market. This market shows strong growth potential and, as URBASER CEO José María López Piñol confirmed, following the first of these acquisitions:
“We are pleased to be able to continue expanding our waste management services in the Nordic market, where we have already had a positive experience during the nearly full year that we have been operating there. We believe this new purchase is a great business opportunity, as the region has been a priority for Urbaser in recent years. Based on its strong growth potential, we hope to see major benefits resulting from the combined strengths of URBASER and the companies acquired.”
